Two Arrested on Suspicion of Damaging a Tractor Destroying Illegal Constructions in Silikian District
On October 5, 2023, at 15:00, a report was received at the police regarding the illegal constructions in the area adjacent to 9th street of Silikian district in Yerevan. During the demolition operations, the driver of a 'JC13' tractor allegedly struck the engine cover and driver's cabin of the tractor belonging to the Yerevan Municipality with a shovel, causing damage to the vehicle. Additionally, stones were thrown at the demolition tractor. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
Two citizens were taken from the scene to the police department by officers maintaining public order in the area. Following the report, a criminal case was initiated in the investigation division of the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan under Part 1 of Article 264 of the RA Criminal Code (two episodes).
Based on reasonable suspicion arising directly from the mentioned apparent criminal acts, a decision was made by the conducting authority to arrest the aforementioned individuals. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Note: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court decision that has entered into legal force in accordance with the procedures established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
