Azerbaijan Attempts to Erase Any Armenian Evidence in Artsakh, Says Father Garegin
Azerbaijan is attempting to erase any Armenian evidence in Artsakh, which necessitates independent monitoring of the Armenian historical heritage that remains under enemy control. Father Garegin Vardapet Hambardzumyan, director of the Artsakh Spiritual and Cultural Heritage Protection Office, stated this in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
Recently, a video surfaced online showing two Azerbaijani servicemen firing at the 13th-century monastic complex in the village of Charektar in the Shahumyan region of Artsakh. Father Garegin considers such behavior by Azerbaijan to be yet another step toward breaking the Armenian spirit and degrading the spiritual experiences of Armenians.
“An independent group of scientists and researchers should visit the sites of our historical heritage and document the current reality with videos and photographs, showing their current condition in order to prevent further destruction and desecration as much as possible,” Father Garegin emphasized.
