Fatal Car Accident in Vayots Dzor: Victims and Injured Are Displaced from Artsakh

On September 28, at 18:22, the crisis management center of the Vayots Dzor regional rescue service received a call reporting a traffic accident near Areni village. There was a gas leak reported. This information was provided by the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

“One firefighting unit from the regional rescue service has been dispatched to the scene. It has been determined that at the 114th km of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, a collision occurred between a 'VAZ' vehicle (driver: S. B., born in 1951) and a 'Mercedes-Benz' vehicle (driver: A. M., born in 1973), resulting in the 'VAZ' vehicle falling into a roadside ditch,” the report states.

Before the rescuers arrived, the driver of the 'VAZ' vehicle and passengers E. S. (born in 1954) and Z. A. (born in 1950) were extracted from the vehicle by local forces, received appropriate medical assistance, and were hospitalized. Doctors assessed E. S.'s condition as moderately severe, Z. A.'s as satisfactory, while the driver of the 'VAZ' vehicle passed away without regaining consciousness.

Rescuers disconnected the vehicles' power, closed the gas cylinders' valves, and secured the area.

According to Shamshyan.com, the driver of the 'VAZ' vehicle and the passengers are forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh.
