Ruben Vardanyan is a political prisoner with a Republic of Armenia passport. Regardless of the attitude towards his political activities, the Republic of Armenia must protect him through legal and diplomatic methods. This was stated by Daniel Ioannisyan, the head of the 'Civil Contract' coalition, on his Facebook page.

'The same applies to all individuals holding an Armenian passport who have been unlawfully detained (or will be detained) by Azerbaijan,' he wrote.

It is noteworthy that Ruben Vardanyan has been arrested by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan and taken to Baku.
