Participant of Protest Assaults Elderly Woman Attempting to Clear the Road

According to a report from the Police of the Republic of Armenia, an incident occurred on September 22 at the intersection of Mashtots and Pushkin Streets in Yerevan, where a protest related to blocking the road led to a dispute between the protesters and other individuals. During this altercation, a protest participant displayed disrespect towards the public and deliberately ignored the rules of coexistence, obstructing normal traffic flow by striking a vehicle attempting to pass through the blocked road with their hands, then sitting on the car, and subsequently assaulting an elderly woman with both their feet and hands who was trying to clear the road. Additionally, another woman, who was removing trash bins from the traffic zone, was also attacked. This information has been reported by the Investigative Committee.

In response to this incident, the Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case under the first part of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code in the First Investigation Division of the Center and Norq-Marash administrative districts. A preliminary investigation is underway.

The necessary measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances surrounding the incident, identify the individuals involved, and provide legal assessments of their actions.
