In Syunik, There Is Almost No Place to Stay, and Only Those With Housing Are Taken to Yerevan: Narek Mkrtchyan
New points for receiving people forcibly displaced from Artsakh are likely to be opened in Goris. The existing resources are already insufficient to provide assistance to everyone. This was reported by a correspondent of Sputnik Armenia in Goris.
Two additional tents have already been set up in Goris by charitable organizations, where displaced persons are provided with dry food and water, but this also does not meet everyone's needs.
Currently, there are no discussions within the Armenian Red Cross about opening new points or sending a new group of volunteers to Goris. "The state bodies open the points; we only support them. When they announce, we will join accordingly," said the spokeswoman for the Armenian Red Cross, Nune Grigoryan.
Meanwhile, people displaced from Artsakh are mainly being transported by bus from Goris to the Gegharkunik province.
“There is almost no place to stay in Syunik, only a few places have become available in Kapan. These are mostly in hotels or guest houses. And only those people who have a place to stay are taken to Yerevan. Special spots for displaced persons have not been allocated in Yerevan,” said Narek Mkrtchyan, a volunteer with the Armenian Red Cross, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
However, displaced individuals from Artsakh stated in their conversation with the media that they do not want to go to Gegharkunik, as they may find themselves again in a border zone. They say they cannot withstand another exile.
