Blinken Once Again Speaks with Aliyev and Issues Warnings
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to ensure the safety and freedom of movement for the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, to refrain from resuming military operations, and to allow for an observer mission, according to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
Miller stated that Blinken had another phone conversation with the Azerbaijani leader today. “The Secretary reaffirmed today the inadmissibility of further military operations, the unconditional provision of security, freedom of movement for civilians, and the unhindered humanitarian access to Nagorno-Karabakh,” Miller noted.
During the conversation, Blinken reminded Aliyev of his promises to refrain from the use of military force and to accept the observer mission. “We expect him to remain committed to that,” Miller added.
