Azerbaijan Reports at Least 200 Casualties from September 19 Operation, Media Says

According to Meydan TV, an Azerbaijani opposition outlet operating from Berlin, the Azerbaijani army has reported at least 200 casualties during military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh from September 19 to 20.

The opposition media claims that the list was compiled based on social media posts, as well as conversations with the relatives of the victims and local mayors. The published list reveals that the highest number of casualties occurred in Azerbaijan's southeastern region populated by the Talish people during the 24 hours of fighting.

According to Meydan TV, 30 of the fallen soldiers (15% of the total number) hail from the regions of Lankaran, Jalilabad, Masalli, Lerik, and Astara. In comparison, Baku, with a population of over two million, and Ganja, the country’s second-largest city, report only seven casualties each.

The site also notes that the list does not include the names of police officers killed by landmines or soldiers who lost their lives in recent car accidents in Karabakh. “Including them, the death toll would reach 215,” claims Meydan TV editor Habib Muntazir.

It is worth noting that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has not released any information regarding the fallen soldiers to this day.
