VIDEO: Armenia's Ombudsman is in Kornidzor, Discusses with Displaced Persons

The Ombudsman of Armenia spoke with individuals displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and gathered data on their situation. This was stated by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, during a briefing at the civil reception center in Kornidzor.

"I would like to clearly state that in this case, we are evidently dealing with a process of forced displacement, because even in instances where people are, in fact, leaving their homes and their homeland, it is clear that this situation has arisen due to their lack of guarantees regarding their fundamental rights and security," said the Ombudsman. She also noted that the rights of pregnant women have been violated due to malnutrition.

Anahit Manasyan informed that psychological support is being provided to the displaced individuals. Regarding the protection of school-age children's rights, she urged the media to be cautious in their reporting: "We ask the media, that if photos or videos are being taken, to ensure that the faces are covered as much as possible or that they are not included in the broadcasted footage, because this is a critical issue concerning the guarantee of children's rights," emphasized the Armenian Ombudsman.

The Ombudsman also mentioned collaboration with international partners. For more details, watch the video.
