VIDEO: 'Save Artsakh'. Protest Rally in Berlin
On September 23, the Armenian community held a protest rally in front of the Bundestag in Berlin, demanding an end to the genocidal actions carried out by Azerbaijan against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. The protest was attended by a group of German politicians, students, and representatives from various NGOs.
“Your participation is very important to show that we demand justice for the people of Artsakh who are currently suffering. The people of Artsakh are trapped, and there is no connection with them; we do not know what is happening with the people, whether they are still alive,” said Lilith Kocharyan, the organizer of the protest.
According to her, the people of Artsakh are experiencing genocide today. “There is no supply of food, medicine, and other essential goods, and transportation is nonexistent. The Armenians of Artsakh are on the brink of starvation; their homes have been shelled, and they are sleeping outdoors on the ground. Azerbaijan is also regularly cutting off the internet; there is no electricity either,” Kocharyan stated, adding that it has become nearly impossible to establish contact with the residents of Artsakh to get any information about the situation there.
Participants in the protest expect effective and urgent actions from the leaders of the European Union to stop the genocide of Armenians. “All of this is happening before our eyes. Starving the people of Artsakh was a slow genocide, and now everything is happening faster. No action is being taken; there are only calls to Azerbaijan, we need urgent steps,” Kocharyan said.
The protesters also displayed banners reading “Save Artsakh”, “Stop the Aliyev regime”, “We also deserve to live in peace”, “Stop Azerbaijani aggression”, “Stop the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh Armenians”.
