One of the Citizens Who Used Violence Against MP Hovik Aghazaryan Arrested

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances of the physical assault on MP Hovik Aghazaryan in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of Yerevan.

According to a report from the police, on September 21, 2023, a disagreement occurred at the "Yerablur" military pantheon between citizens and MPs Hakob Aslanyan and Hovik Aghazaryan, during which the latter were shoved, insulted, and physically attacked, with hits delivered to MP Hovik Aghazaryan using hands and feet.

In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 195, Part 2, Points 1 and 5, and Article 297, Part 2, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code. The identity of the individuals who physically assaulted the MP has been established by the investigation.

A citizen identified as A.G. has been arrested on suspicion of committing these criminal acts and has been presented to the prosecuting authority. Measures are being taken to identify and present the other individuals who used violence to the prosecuting authority. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
