More Than 8,000 Citizens of Artsakh Receive Assistance: Russian Embassy
Six servicemen have died during the peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, with several others suffering varying degrees of injuries. This was stated in a declaration from the Russian Embassy in Armenia regarding the activities of the Russian peacekeeping forces in the region.
The statement emphasizes that "in an extremely complex situation, the peacekeepers are monitoring the situation around the clock and making active efforts, including life-threatening ones, to protect the peaceful population of Nagorno-Karabakh." It notes that, during military operations, the peacekeeping forces have organized the evacuation of civilians from the most dangerous areas and provided medical assistance to the affected individuals, establishing themselves in base camps and separate observation posts.
“Just yesterday, assistance was provided, including food and shelter accommodations, to more than 8,000 citizens, including children,” clarified the diplomatic mission.
The statement also mentions that since the escalation of the conflict, the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces has been actively mediating efforts to de-escalate the situation, which has allowed for an agreement between the parties concerning a ceasefire and the initiation of negotiations.
The day prior, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that an armed vehicle belonging to the Russian peacekeepers had been shelled while returning from an observation post, resulting in the death of all five servicemen aboard. Today, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported two recorded incidents, one of which resulted in the death of five, and the other in the death of one peacekeeper.
