24-Year-Old Man Arrested for Assaulting Police Officer
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of using violence against a police officer during a protest. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
On September 21, 2023, at approximately 16:25, a group of citizens participating in a protest blocked the intersection of Amiryan and Mashtots streets in Yerevan. They refused to comply with the legal demands of the police and began to resist law enforcement, during which one of the participants struck a police officer in the face, causing physical harm.
Following the incident, a criminal case was initiated by the Investigative Committee's Yerevan department, specifically in the Central and Norq-Marash administrative districts, under Article 452, Part 3 of the Armenian Criminal Code. Measures taken led to the identification of the suspect, who resides in the Aragatsotn Province.
The individual has been brought to the competent authorities, and a decision has been made to arrest him on the grounds of reasonable suspicion of physical aggression against a police officer. An investigation is underway.
