VIDEO: Armen Ghazaryan on Various Issues in the Electoral Process
The head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Armen Ghazaryan, addressed a number of questions related to the functions of the Service in the electoral process during a press conference held today at the Central Electoral Commission.
He discussed the right of citizens of the Republic of Armenia and stateless individuals to participate in local elections, the preparation and publication of preliminary (823,559 voters) and final (824,250 voters) electoral lists, as well as the issuance of 900 certificates to candidates for the purpose of exercising their right to be elected.
Additionally, he touched upon the cooperation with the police to identify inaccuracies in the electoral lists (381 inaccuracies were found), noting that 225 of these were data pertaining to deceased individuals, which have been removed from the electoral lists. He clarified the possibilities surrounding such cases, provided information regarding notifications about the election day and polling places, the procedure for these notifications, and the number of foreign nationals entitled to vote (14,653, including 11,890 citizens of the Russian Federation and 89 citizens of India).
