US Forecasts High Risk of Terrorist Attacks in 2024
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has predicted that there will be a high risk of terrorist attacks in the country in 2024. It is expected that radical groups operating outside the country will attempt to regain their previous influence, according to the agency's report.
“The department expects that the threat of violence by radicalized individuals in the US will remain high, although it will not fundamentally change, primarily manifesting in the form of attacks by individuals or small groups,” the document states.
According to the agency, while the US has achieved certain successes in combating terrorism, international terrorist groups, such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS, will attempt to re-establish their influence. Experts believe that terrorists will seek to carry out attacks from abroad.
In May, the DHS had already warned that the US could expect an increase in violence ahead of the 2024 presidential elections. The next US presidential elections will take place in November 2024.
It is also reminded that the US has expanded anti-Russian sanctions, with more than 20 individuals and dozens of companies subject to new restrictions. The list includes АвтоВАЗ, Москвич, and others.
