One Year Ago, Azerbaijan Launched Military Aggression Resulting in 200 Deaths, Marukyan
One year ago, Azerbaijan launched military aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, resulting in over 200 deaths and numerous injuries. This was stated by Edmond Marukyan, Armenia's special envoy for affairs, on his X (formerly Twitter) microblog, noting that to this day, around 150 square kilometers of Armenia’s sovereign territory remain occupied, and despite calls from the international community, Azerbaijani forces have not been withdrawn from the occupied areas.
“Two days ago, while assessing the outcomes of the peace process, I discussed steps for building trust. The withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the occupied territories of Armenia could be a significant step towards establishing trust between the sides. The Azerbaijani armed forces must leave the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, and all prisoners of war and other detainees must be released from Azerbaijani prisons,” Marukyan stated.
