Video: Avanesyan Speaks on the Project for Photo and Video Recording in Healthcare Centers

The Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, spoke in the National Assembly regarding the draft amendments to the law on "Population's Healthcare and Service."

“The choice of locations and discussions around it showed that the benefits of photo and video recording, meaning the data that can also be used later for the interests of patients, outweigh the potential risks associated with personal and medical confidentiality. The prohibition will only apply to intervention rooms, laboratory-instrumental examination rooms, patient wards, and hygiene-related areas. For other types of cases, the government will establish conditions under which medical centers will have the right to conduct photo and video recordings,” she stated.

According to Avanesyan, intensive care units and operating rooms will be recorded in order to best protect the interests of patients. This will be necessary to visualize the volume and quality of medical care provided. She also mentioned that the patient will be informed about the recording and will have the opportunity to express their opinion.
