«A Happy Ending Will Not Happen»: Zelensky Comments on Progress of Ukrainian Counteroffensive
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces will not have a "happy ending," partly due to the country having already lost "many people." Zelensky made these remarks in an interview with CNN.
He pointed out that military operations are not a "one-and-a-half-hour movie." He said, "We all want to succeed and have a happy ending. First of all, this is not a one-and-a-half-hour film; this is a counteroffensive. This is not a movie with a happy ending; we will not have a happy ending, we have lost many people. There will be no pleasant conclusion. We must accept this," Zelensky emphasized.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive has been ongoing since the beginning of summer. In July, Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that it was proceeding "more slowly than we would like." In early September, the Ukrainian leader stated that the armed forces of Ukraine are "advancing regardless of everything."
