Video: It Was a Crime Against the State, Says Pashinyan

The unveiling of the statue of Karen Demirchyan took place near the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex in Yerevan. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was present at the official ceremony.

According to him, since gaining independence, Armenia has created far less than during the period of Karen Demirchyan's leadership before independence. Referring to the tragedy of October 27, Pashinyan stated that it was not a crime against individuals, but a crime against the state.

“In 1998, there were electoral violations, but in 1999, the truth prevailed. I do not want to believe that the hand that fired the shots against Karen Demirchyan can have any spiritual connection to the Armenian people, because it was not a crime against individuals, it was a crime against the state. It is my wish, as well as that of the Armenian people, that it would be very good and bring honor to the Armenian people to provide answers to why and how this happened, and we must give those answers,” he stated.
