US Intelligence Agencies Plan to Eliminate Leaders of Niger Coup, Says Russian SVR
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has reported that American intelligence agencies intend to physically eliminate potential perpetrators of assassination attempts against Niger's new leadership. This was revealed by Gazeta.ru.
Washington is dissatisfied with the recent power shift in Niger, and US intelligence services are discussing possible options for removing the country's new leadership.
“Washington is contemplating how to not only slow down the trend of Africa becoming one of the power centers of a multipolar world that poses a threat to the West, but also to reclaim the French 'legacy' in the strategically significant Sahel region,” the report stated.
It should be noted that Niger's President Mohamed Bazoum and his wife have been detained by rebels. On the night of July 27, the country's armed forces halted the operations of all state institutions, imposed a curfew, and closed the borders.
