Car of GLONASS Chief Designer Set on Fire in Moscow
Two unidentified individuals set ablaze a Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to Valery Babakov, the chief designer of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), on Isakovsky Street in the Strogino district of northwestern Moscow. This information was reported by the Shot Telegram channel.
According to the source, the incident occurred on the night of September 5, Tuesday, in a closed parking lot. The arsonists fled the scene by jumping over a fence.
The fire spread to a Mazda and a BMW parked next to Babakov's vehicle, causing damage to those cars as well.
Emergency services arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. The owner of the affected vehicle is the general director of Navis Design Bureau, a company that produces equipment for GLONASS, GPS, GALILEO, and their functional accessories, the publication clarified.
