Armenians Born in Nagorno-Karabakh Are Citizens of Azerbaijan: New Assertions from Baku

From a legal standpoint, Armenians born in the Nagorno-Karabakh region are citizens of Azerbaijan. This so-called 'authoritative' opinion was expressed by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the Azerbaijani president.

'However, during the occupation of the Nagorno-Karabakh region by Armenia, Yerevan pursued a policy of annexation and issued illegal passports to almost all Armenian residents of the region,' he added.

It is worth noting that Artsakh has been under blockade for 236 days now.
