Arsen Mkrtchyan, killed during an Azerbaijani attack, was participating in a 25-day training exercise

Arsen Mkrtchyan, a 37-year-old man who lost his life during an attack by Azerbaijani armed forces on Armenian positions near Sotk, was from the village of Ranchpar in the Ararat region. In an interview with NEWS.am, Ranchpar village chief Vahan Vardanyan shared details about Arsen's life, stating that he was participating in a 25-day training exercise.

“Arsen had one brother and one sister; his brother lives in Russia. He lived with his parents. He was married and had two minor daughters, and his wife is pregnant. He mainly worked in agriculture. He was a modest and respectful guy. They were in a socially average situation,” said the village chief.

It is noteworthy that shortly before this statement, the Ministry of Defense announced four fatalities and one injury. The Ministry also released a video showing how the Azerbaijani side is concentrating additional resources in the Sotk direction.

Earlier today, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported that the enemy had started intense fire towards Armenian positions located in the Sotk area since 07:50 am on September 1, creating an informational basis for their next provocation by spreading regular misinformation on August 31. Due to the Azerbaijani provocation, the Armenian side suffered two fatalities and one injury.

The Ministry of Defense had previously stated that the enemy is using mortars.
