Alternative Proposed for Araik Harutyunyan to Direct Talks between Baku and Stepanakert

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that claims suggesting political forces in Artsakh pressured Araik Harutyunyan to resign are unfounded. Yesterday, opposition MP Metakse Hakobyan stated that, quite contrary, during the recent six-hour night session of the Artsakh Parliament, participants allegedly compelled Harutyunyan to step down. Many proposals were made regarding how to navigate the situation, to which Harutyunyan replied that he would consult and make a decision.

Hakobyan's "Justice" party has proposed an alternative to direct talks between Baku and Stepanakert. "Our party president suggested creating a ‘3+1’ format. A working group should be formed from representatives of the parties that signed the November 9 tripartite statement. It is necessary to convince the authorities of both Armenia and Russia to establish this group, which will also involve a representative from Artsakh. They will sit and discuss the current situation, allowing Artsakh and Azerbaijan to present their proposals and demands, leading to a decision being made. If this government were capable of doing this, it would be the only solution. If not, it should allow others the opportunity," said Harutyunyan, who noted that he would consult on these proposals but did not specify with whom he consulted before deciding on his resignation.
