Video: Over 1 kg of Hashish Attempted to be Smuggled by Mixing with Tea - SRC
The Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC) has uncovered yet another case of drug smuggling.
Recently, during a customs inspection at the "Apaven Terminal" LLC, the specially trained dog of the SRC's Anti-Smuggling Department exhibited behavior indicating the detection of narcotics in an international parcel imported from the USA.
Employees of the operational inspection department of the Anti-Smuggling Department and the customs service of the SRC carried out a joint customs inspection of the mentioned international parcel. As a result, in addition to personal items, there were four boxes of tea, each containing a total of 1,170 grams of hashish mixed with the tea.
Following this incident, employees of the operational intelligence division of the Anti-Smuggling Department initiated urgent operational and investigative measures, including the "Controlled Delivery and Purchase" operation. Under this operation, after receiving the shipment with the replaced hashish-like substances, a citizen of Armenia, identified as A.G., was arrested near his home in the Malatia-Sebastia community of Yerevan, and was transferred to the SRC's Anti-Smuggling Department.
The suspect underwent a personal search accompanying the arrest, after which he was transferred to the main department for the investigation of economic crimes and smuggling of the RA Investigative Committee. As a result of the personal search, in addition to other items, a substance resembling opium and a white powdery substance containing psychoactive materials were discovered on this citizen.
All of these items, along with the packaged and sealed materials, have been provided to the main department for the investigation of economic crimes and smuggling of the RA Investigative Committee. The ongoing operational and investigative measures continue to clarify the circle of individuals involved in this incident.
