Russia Supplies First Batch of Uranium to India After Four Years
In June, Russia provided its first batch of uranium to India for the local nuclear industry since 2019, valued at $13.5 million. This information was reported by РИА Новости, analyzing data from the Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry. The volume of goods sent to New Delhi amounted to 118 tons.
The last time Moscow supplied uranium to India was in 2019, during which it exported 1.77 thousand tons of the metal worth $101.6 million throughout the year.
Moscow and New Delhi are actively cooperating in the field of atomic energy. New blocks of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant are being built with the participation of Rosatom, and prospects for constructing new capacities in India using Russian projects are being discussed.
As reported by РИА Новости on Thursday, the United States purchased 416 tons of uranium from Russia in the first half of the year, which is 2.2 times higher than the figures for the same period last year and marks the highest level since 2005. Washington paid $696.5 million for this.
In mid-August, Rosatom's CEO Alexey Likhachov stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that the state corporation had acquired the Budenovskoye uranium deposit in Kazakhstan, securing second place globally in terms of reserves of this strategic metal.
