8-Month-Old Child Drowns in Bathtub in Russia While 16-Year-Old Mother Sleeps

In the city of Kamyshin, Volgograd region of Russia, an 8-month-old child drowned in the bathtub while the 16-year-old mother was asleep. According to the Investigative Committee, the teenage mother decided to bathe her child and placed the infant in the bathtub, but for some reason returned to the bedroom where she fell asleep. During this time, the child drowned.

The body of the child was discovered by the young mother's partner. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and all circumstances are being investigated.
