Members of Mosque Council in Sweden Receive Packages with Burnt Qurans

Members of the Mosque Council in Uppsala, Sweden, have received packages containing burnt copies of the Quran from unknown individuals. According to the Aftonbladet newspaper, the burnt copies of the Muslim holy book were sent to the home addresses of mosque representatives.

Following the incident, six surveillance cameras have been installed inside and around the mosque.

It is noteworthy that Salwan Momika, one of the organizers of Quran burning demonstrations, was attacked in a suburb of Stockholm. An unidentified man approached him wearing boxing gloves and called for a ‘fight’ in Arabic. Momika requested him not to come closer, but the man managed to strike him several times before disappearing.

As reported, Sweden currently has no plans to prohibit the burning of religious texts, unlike the authorities in Denmark. According to the Prime Minister of Sweden, doing the same as the neighboring country would require a constitutional amendment, which he believes is not the best path for Sweden.
