Armen Avtandilyan's Dismissal from the Ministry of Defense Surprised Many: What is the Reason?
The dismissal of Armen Avtandilyan, the head of the Conscription and Mobilization Service of the Ministry of Defense, has come as a surprise to the employees of the ministry, and no explanation has been provided for his release.
According to reports received by the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, the law enforcement agencies have informed the political authorities that corruption is rampant in the recruitment offices, and soldiers are being improperly discharged or excused from service, which poses corruption risks.
We reported yesterday that the President of Armenia signed a decree to relieve Armen Avtandilyan from his position as the head of the Conscription and Mobilization Service of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Defense.
"Based on the Prime Minister's recommendation, in accordance with the first part of Article 133 of the Constitution, as well as point 11 of the first part of Article 40 of the law on 'Military Service and the Status of Servicemen': Armen Avtandilyan is relieved from the position of head of the Conscription and Mobilization Service of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Defense," the decree states.
