A part of the Khodzor-Vorotan road being constructed in Syunik Province was buried by a mudslide at the end of July. This information comes from Sputnik Armenia, whose filming crew was present at the site.

According to the news outlet, a landslide occurred after heavy rain, as rocks collapsed onto the road, damaging several sections. One section was completely washed away by water, while others were blocked. The landslide happened during the night, and fortunately, no one was injured.

As reported, residents of the Vorotan village, as well as those from Bardzravan and Shurnukh, have had to use alternative routes to reach Goris for the past two weeks. Workers have had to cut the rock in one of the affected sections (the road has dropped from its previous level) and prepare an earthen mound there. The remaining sections have been partially cleared of rocks and dirt.

It has been noted that traffic on the road has resumed, but there remains a risk of new landslides.

It is reminded that the need for the reconstruction of the Khodzor-Vorotan road arose after representatives of Azerbaijan closed the Goris-Kapan highway. This road has become the only route connecting the village of Vorotan to the outside world.
