New Record for Armenia Set by Runner Yervand Mkrtchyan

Member of the Armenian athletics team, runner Yervand Mkrtchyan, has set a new record for Armenia at the World Athletics Championships currently taking place in Budapest, completing the 1500-meter distance in 3:39.35 minutes.

According to the results of the championships, Mkrtchyan placed 11th and was unable to overcome the qualifying round barrier. The previous record was also set by Mkrtchyan in July during the World University Games in China, where he achieved a time of 3:40.68 in the 1500-meter race.

It is worth noting that Mkrtchyan secured the third position at the World University Games and won a bronze medal, becoming the first athlete to claim a medal for independent Armenia in the running events of the World University Games.
