What Caused the Dispute Between a 26-Year-Old Resident and a Trans Woman: Details from the Investigative Committee

The investigation into the murder of a 28-year-old resident of Yerevan continues at the Central and Norq-Marash investigative division of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

As a result of immediate investigative and procedural actions, several key circumstances of the incident have been clarified, including the motive. In particular, a dispute occurred before the incident between the victim and a 26-year-old resident of Armavir province, connected to questions regarding the illegal trafficking of drugs. During this altercation, the latter intentionally inflicted fatal injuries on the Yerevan resident with a sharp cutting and stabbing instrument to the neck and chest, causing injuries incompatible with life. Following this, he set fire to the apartment and left the scene.

Earlier reports indicated that the person suspected of committing the crime provided a self-incriminating testimony during the questioning regarding the circumstances of the incident, detailing the event.

Based on the sufficient evidence obtained, charges have been filed against him under Part 1 of Article 155 and Subpoint 2 of Part 2 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A motion has been submitted to the court for pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case and to locate the instrument of the crime.
