VIDEO: India Becomes the First Country to Successfully Land a Spacecraft on the Moon
India has successfully soft-landed a module on the lunar surface. The Indian "Chandrayaan-3" lander accomplished a soft touchdown on the Moon. With this, India has become the first country to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon's southern pole.
It is noteworthy that the Indian "Chandrayaan-3" robotic spacecraft was launched into space on July 14 and entered lunar orbit on August 5. The mission will perform several maneuvers to approach the Moon until its orbit is reduced to 100 km from the natural satellite of Earth. The "Vikram" landing module separated from the spacecraft on August 17 and had previously executed two operations for orbital descent.
The "Chandrayaan-3" mission is expected to provide groundbreaking insights into the elemental composition of the lunar surface. The lander is equipped with an X-ray alpha particle spectrometer and a laser spectroscope.
