Footage of clashes between UN peacekeepers and Turks in Cyprus has surfaced online. The incident occurred a few days ago when peacekeepers attempted to block unauthorized road construction in the buffer zone. It is reported that three UN soldiers required medical assistance as a result of the altercation, with one sustaining a broken nose.
Following the incident, Turkey issued a strong statement. Meanwhile, the President of Cyprus criticized Turkey and made pointed remarks regarding the situation. He characterized the actions in Pyla as a Turkish provocation and stated in his remarks, “The international community has responded clearly to this issue: Erdoğan’s regime is an occupying regime, and we have nothing more to add.”
