VIDEO: They Don’t Understand That We Need to Take Concrete Actions - Avinyan on Construction Dust
During a procedural meeting of the Yerevan City Hall, the territorial head of the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body reported that measures against dust emissions from construction sites continued over the past week, with three administrative violations recorded.
Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan inquired whether an administrative violation had been issued in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district concerning the dust cloud from construction. He was informed that inspections had issued a warning to the construction company, and a technical examination is ongoing.
In response to this issue, Avinyan emphasized the need for a proactive approach. “All major construction companies are informed that this issue is under our attention. We are not engaged in pointless conversations here. If the builders do not understand that we are not just talking but that there will be consequences, it means that those consequences are not significant for them. They do not understand that concrete actions must be taken. Go, understand what has happened, and record the administrative violations; visit every day,” instructed the deputy mayor.
Avinyan also addressed the relevant staff, stating that if any video regarding the dust issue becomes available to him, it should have been accessible to them first, and they should have already fined the respective construction company.
He added that he expects measures to address the dust problem caused by construction in Yerevan to be taken in September.
