Drought Threat: Istanbul Mayor Urges Residents to Save Water

The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has urged residents of the Turkish megacity to conserve water in the face of a looming drought threat. According to the municipality's data, water reserves in Istanbul's reservoirs have dropped to 32.38 percent of normal levels as of Sunday, the lowest figure recorded in the last nine years due to the hot and dry summer.

Based on the weather forecasts presented by the mayor, the average temperature in Istanbul is expected to exceed 30 degrees next week. Earlier, city authorities announced that the local reservoirs have enough water supply for only two months.
