VIDEO: How Troops in Northern Cyprus Attack UN Peacekeepers with Tractors

UN peacekeeping forces have come under attack in the buffer zone between the villages of Pyla and Arsos in Cyprus. This has been reported by foreign media.

The UN peacekeepers were "forcibly" pushed back from their positions in the buffer zone, likely by soldiers and plainclothes police from the Turkish-controlled part of Cyprus.

The incident occurred at a time when the peacekeepers were blocking unauthorized construction work in the area. As seen in the video, UN vehicles were removed using tractors, which blocked access to the road, while other vehicles were also forcibly taken off the road.

It is known that as a result of the incident, three out of twelve peacekeepers sustained minor injuries.

Cyprus's political parties and the UN peacekeeping forces have condemned the incident. "The UN Peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus condemn the attacks on UN peacekeepers and the damage caused to UN vehicles by Turkish Cypriot personnel," stated a release from the mission.

Additionally, a video circulating on Telegram shows that the twelve UN peacekeepers were pushed back from their positions in the buffer zone by military personnel and plainclothes police from the Turkish-controlled part of Cyprus.

The buffer zone (Green Line), which is 80 kilometers long, separates the residential areas of the Greek and Turkish communities on the island. The buffer zone is controlled by UN peacekeeping forces in Cyprus.
