Discussion Procedure Initiated After Reports of Two Soldiers' Suicides - Ombudsman

Following the reports of fatal gunshot wounds involving two soldiers, a discussion procedure has been initiated at the Office of the Human Rights Defender. This has been confirmed by the Ombudsman's office.

“Letters have been sent to the relevant state bodies to obtain clarifications regarding the incidents. The Defender emphasizes that the presence of such cases in the Armed Forces raises concerns. The Ombudsman underscores the importance of both the effective investigation of the mentioned cases by the competent state bodies and the implementation of necessary measures aimed at preventing similar incidents,” the statement reads.

Any issues related to human rights within the Armed Forces are under the direct attention of the Human Rights Defender. The Defender will consistently address the existing problems in the field and take steps toward their resolution,” the announcement continues.
