Karateka Suren Harutyunyan Becomes Silver Medalist at CIS Games

At the nearing completion of the second CIS Games in Belarus, Suren Harutyunyan, representing Armenia, has secured the seventh medal for our delegation. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

In the karate competitions taking place in Mogilev, Suren Harutyunyan achieved confident victories over athletes from Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan in the men's 67 kg weight category, advancing to the finals where he lost to his Russian opponent with a score of 2:3.

It is worth noting that within the Armenian national team, gold medalist Sahak Hovhannisyan has excelled in Greco-Roman wrestling, while silver medalist has been shooter Nare Gabrielyan, and bronze medals were awarded to Greco-Roman wrestler Samvel Grigoryan and freestyle wrestlers Norik Harutyunyan, Azat Karapetyan, and Sergey Sargsyan.

The second CIS Games are being held in ten cities across various regions of Belarus from August 4 to 14. Over 140 athletes from different sports have traveled to Belarus as part of the Armenian delegation.
