Firefighting Operations Continue Near Vardanidzor: Smoldering Pockets Present

On August 12, at 02:00, 28 firefighters were dispatched to the scene by the duty group of the firefighting and rescue operations organization department. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ rescue service.

About 1.5 hectares are currently affected by smoldering pockets. On August 11, at 19:29, the crisis management center of the Syunik regional rescue service received a report that a fire had broken out in the area adjacent to the village of Vardanidzor.

A combat team from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ regional rescue service, a special rescue team from the rescue operations department (comprising 9 rescuers), and the duty group from the firefighting and rescue operations organization department have been sent to the site.

It has been determined that the fire's focal point is located on a hillside within the territory of the Arevik National Park. Due to difficult access to the road, rescuers are unable to reach the scene (approximately a 5-hour hike). Firefighting operations are currently being carried out on-site by 10 forestry employees.
