Elevators Are Maintained by Housing Associations: Yerevan Municipality

"Elevators, as common property, belong to the residents according to the law on the management of multi-apartment buildings. In this case, the Yerevan Municipality had no functionality or negligence because the maintenance of elevators is carried out by housing associations according to the buildings," stated Haik Kostanyan, spokesperson for the Yerevan Mayor, in an interview with Auroranews, addressing questions about a shocking incident that occurred in Yerevan.

To avoid unfortunate incidents, supervision should have been carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Technical Safety Department and inspection bodies.

Earlier, it was reported that an 82-year-old woman had fallen on top of an elevator cabin, and her body was discovered only a day later.
