Suspect Arrested for Murder at Yerevan's Margelyan Park: Details

On August 10, 2023, late in the evening, an unknown citizen reported an altercation occurring at Margelyan Park in Yerevan, resulting in a man being injured who required assistance or had died. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

On August 11, 2023, at 00:28, a call was received from the 'Armenia' Medical Center indicating that a corpse of 37-year-old Armen Hakobyan had been brought in with stab wounds to the chest.

In connection with this report, a criminal case was initiated under the first part of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code at the Investigation Department of the Arabkir Administrative District of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

On the same day, a person born in 1998, identified as D.G., was arrested at the crime scene on reasonable suspicion of having committed murder. He stated that he had stabbed Armen Hakobyan once with a knife during the altercation, and he presented the knife.

Forensic genetic and corpse forensic examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation is ongoing, with necessary procedural and evidential actions taken to fully clarify the circumstances of the case.
