Employee of St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center Paid for 8 Years Without Working
A.H., holding the position of a junior medical worker in the pathological anatomy department of St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center LLC, allegedly embezzled 12,282,329 drams during the years 2010-2018 with the assistance of a group of individuals from the medical center. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.
The criminal proceedings have revealed that A.H., with the intent of not performing work duties while receiving a salary, intentionally committed large-scale embezzlement. On July 26, 2010, he signed an employment contract with the director of St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center LLC, A.M., and was appointed as a junior medical worker in the pathological anatomy department, receiving a salary until August 1, 2018, without fulfilling any work responsibilities.
Specifically, the head of the pathological anatomy department, A.B., made preliminary agreements with M.B., M.S., A.A—who temporarily replaced him—and other healthcare workers A.M. and L.G., to fabricate false information in work time accounting records regarding A.H.'s attendance from July 26, 2010, to August 1, 2018.
On August 7, 2023, the prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecution against A.H. under Article 255, Part 3, Point 3 of the Criminal Code (committing fraud on a particularly large scale), and against A.B. and A.M. under Article 46-255, Part 3, Point 3 (aiding in particularly large-scale fraud) and Article 457, Part 2 (forging documents or using forged documents by a group of individuals by prior agreement).
