First Application for Participation in Yerevan Mayor Elections Registered at CEC
The Central Electoral Commission has registered the first application for participation in the Yerevan City Council elections today. This information was shared by CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan during a press conference held today.
He noted that the "European Party of Armenia" was the first to submit its documents (a party led by Tigran Khzmalyan). "As per tradition, nominations occur on the penultimate and final days. There are many pragmatic reasons for this; questions regarding the documents are being clarified until the last day," Hovakimyan stated.
According to the CEC Chairman, the flow of nominations will take place this week and on Sunday.
It is important to note that from August 3, the official process for the submission of nominations by political parties and alliances participating in the upcoming city council elections, scheduled for the autumn, has begun. This process will last for 10 days and will end on August 13. Political forces and alliances wishing to participate in the city council elections must submit the necessary documents for registration to the CEC within this 10-day period. Furthermore, the pre-election campaign will commence on August 23.
