UN Secretary-General Omits Mention of US Responsibility for Nagasaki Nuclear Bombing in Address
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, in his message commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Nagasaki nuclear bombing, did not mention that it was carried out by the United States. The message was read by Deputy Secretary-General Izumi Nakamitsu during a ceremony in Japan, as reported by TASS.
It is noted that earlier, Guterres also spoke at an event dedicated to the Hiroshima bombing, where he similarly did not acknowledge US accountability.
Remember, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were conducted by the United States at the very end of World War II.
Furthermore, such linguistic games are often observed in grand politics. For instance, American presidents refer to the Armenian Genocide of 1915 as the Great Catastrophe without applying the term genocide.
