US Has Done Everything Possible to Resume Grain Deal, Blinken Says
The US has done "everything possible" to meet Russia's demands for the resumption of the grain deal. This was stated by Secretary of State Antony Blinken in an interview with RFI.
Regarding specific indications of potential issues such as banking, transportation, and so on, we have done everything to ensure that those problems are resolved, the Secretary said.
He mentioned that he personally wrote letters to American banks explaining that Washington has "absolutely" supported the export of Russian grain. "There should be no fear regarding the sanctions that are lifted from Russian grain, transportation, insurance, and so on," Blinken stated.
He also spoke about a proposal directed to Russia by the UN that "addresses all of Moscow's concerns." However, according to Blinken, the Kremlin did not respond to it, thus the extension of the deal is "not a matter of concessions."
