Stabbing at the Shore of Sevan: 17-Year-Old Arrested for Stabbing 42-Year-Old Man
On August 3, at 22:06, the police's operational management center in the Gegharkunik region received a report from the Sevan Medical Center that a 42-year-old man from Zvovagyugh had come in for medical assistance with a stab wound to the chest. This was reported by the Police of the Republic of Armenia.
A police operational group from the Sevan division and a rapid response team were dispatched to the hospital. As a result of the measures taken, operational information was obtained indicating that a dispute had occurred between a group of youths from Berd, Tavush province, and the injured man at a beach near one of the holiday zones of Lake Sevan, during which the 17-year-old resident of Berd stabbed the 42-year-old man from Zvovagyugh.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Sevan investigative division.
As a result of joint operations by the Sevan police division and the regional administration of Gegharkunik, on August 4, the 17-year-old suspect and three participants in the dispute were found and arrested in one of the houses on Aygestan Street in the Berd community of Tavush. In the police station, the 17-year-old confessed that he was the one who stabbed and injured the 42-year-old man, while one of the arrested individuals admitted to hitting the 42-year-old man in the eye, causing bodily harm.
The 17-year-old has been transferred to a penal institution, while the others were released on signature. An investigation is underway.
