On August 8, the Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia carried out an operation in Yerevan, titled 'My Hummer Isn't a Threat to Your Hummer,' according to shamshyan.com.
As reported, operational information was received at the Patrol Service's Yerevan division that the driver of a Hummer vehicle with license plate 77 NN 001, who had previously been banned from driving due to being under the influence, was not only continuing to operate the vehicle but was also violating traffic rules.
Yesterday, additional operational information was received indicating that the aforementioned Hummer was driving in the opposite lane on the Ashtaraki highway. When patrol officers attempted to stop the Hummer, the driver momentarily continued to drive, then stopped the vehicle, exited, and fled towards a nearby car wash.
As the patrol attempted to transport the vehicle to the secured area of the Patrol Service's Yerevan division, the driver of the Hummer and his companions tried to convince and momentarily obstruct the officers' lawful actions to prevent the Hummer from being taken to the impound, but to no avail. The patrol officers successfully transported the Hummer to the secured area of the Patrol Service's Yerevan division.
The driver, 52-year-old Vaghik Asatryan, a resident of Kotayk Province, underwent a sobriety test, which revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol at a high degree, and the vehicle was listed as wanted.
Documents regarding the incident are being prepared at the Patrol Service's Yerevan division, and the case will be transferred to the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, where a criminal proceeding may be initiated.
Notice: A suspect or accused in a presumed crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a legally binding court decision.
