Margarita Simonyan and Dmitry Kiselev Apply to Register 'Echo of Moscow' Trademark

The editor-in-chief of Rossiya Segodnya, Margarita Simonyan, along with Dmitry Kiselev, has submitted an application for the registration of the 'Echo of Moscow' trademark, the same branding that was previously dissolved under SOTA.

If the trademark is registered, it will be able to produce multimedia content as well as offer various services, ranging from diving equipment rental to oil well management. Benediktov (foreign agent) has informed SOTE that the 'Echo of Moscow' trademark "belongs to ZAO Ekho Moskvy, which exists and where minority shareholders control 33.5%." Thus, the registration of the brand by Margarita Simonyan cannot be legally executed.

In March 2022, Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, restricted access to the 'Echo of Moscow' radio station's website.
