More Polish Soldiers to Be Deployed to the Border with Belarus
Poland's border service has requested the country's defense ministry to send an additional thousand soldiers to the border with Belarus. This was announced today, August 7, by Poland's Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Maciej Wonsik.
According to him, there is increasing aggression against Polish border service officers by migrants attempting to illegally cross into the European Union.
"It must be said that this whole process is, without exception, organized by Belarusian border guards. The nature of these violations is changing, and there is more and more aggression observed towards Polish soldiers, border guards, and police. Bottles, stones, and branches are constantly being thrown," Wonsik complained.
He also accused the Belarusian side of damaging the border barrier using various tools. According to him, as a result of one such incident, 93 migrants breached the border, 88 of whom were apprehended.
